Annual 2 (1).jpeg

OUR MISSION IS TO EDUCATE, INSPIRE, AND HONOR THROUGH FLIGHT AND LIVING HISTORY EXPERIENCES.

Join the Caf and the Music city wing

As an all-volunteer 501c3 non-profit organization, our members donate their talent, labor, time and financial support to help our mission. For those who have a passion for history, aviation, or just helping out a good cause, the Commemorative Air Force Music City Wing is a great place to visit or volunteer.

Before joining the Music City Wing, you must first join the national headquarters wing of the Commemorative Air Force.  You must join as a CAF Colonel or above. For Cadets, you can join at the Cadet level.

After joining our wing, don't forget to head over to the National Organization to join as well.

The Commemorative Air Force was founded to acquire, restore and preserve in flying condition a complete collection of combat aircraft which were flown by all military services of the United States, and selected aircraft of other nations, for the education and enjoyment of present and future generations of Americans.

It began with a single plane.

Lloyd Nolen and a small group of ex-service pilots from the Rio Grande Valley in Texas pooled their money to purchase a P-51 Mustang in 1957. They formed a loosely defined organization to share the pleasure and expense of maintaining the Mustang.

A short while later, the group added a pair of F8F Bearcats to the P-51 Mustang. At this point, the mission of the CAF became clear: save an example of every aircraft that flew during World War II ~ a mission no one else was undertaking.

What started as a hobby became an urgent mission to preserve history.

About the CAF Music City Wing

The CAF Music City Wing serves to promote ongoing support and recognition for our veterans of current and past wars through the operation of our CAF aircraft on pro-bono ride days as well as week long veterans appreciation weeks and tours. Our volunteers continually work on expanding our unit in Middle Tennessee such that we may continue to educate and preserve history for both our local community and surrounding areas. By expanding our footprint in both aircraft fleet and membership size we will be able to participate and help run more events in our area that serve to educate and celebrate our veterans, youth, and this great nation’s history.

We currently have nearly 100 members as well as an active group of Cadet members. Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds which helps the Wing achieve our goals.  Anyone that has an interest in aviation or history is welcome to join us!

We meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month. The cadets meet at 5:00 PM with the regular meeting at 6:30 PM . Food is put out between the meetings at 6:00 PM.  Meetings are held at the AV8Rs hangar on the west side of the airports and signs are posted. You are welcome to attend if you are in the area.
